Another Saturday morning shopping excursion on 1st Dibs. Today, the guest shopper is New York City designer, Alex Papachristidis. I picked out a collection of items that I would love to work with when putting together a fresh, sophisticated, modern living room. What pieces would you choose from this selection, how would you put them together and what would you add to bring balance to the space?

When I need to pull a room back from the brink of upholstery-mad softness, I like to introduce the glint of glass or masculinity of metal. An (addictive) hour of surfing 1st Dibs usually produces some interesting options like this pair of polished steel puzzle tables and a 1970’s cast aluminum four-panel screen By Arthur Court. And can you imagine a vast loft or restaurant wall with a whole series of these polished aluminum ball sconces that architect Max Abramovitz designed for the old Philharmonic Hall?
